Hello Raymond, anent statement 1; statement 2: Old Lawyer to Young Lawyer: "I'll teach you the law, you pay me when you win your first case." Young Lawyer never begins to practice. 2 years later: O.L. "I'm going to sue you for payment. If I win, you have to pay me. If I lose, you'll have won your first case and you'll have to pay me." Y.L. "Oh no. If I win I don't have to pay you - because I won. If I lose I won't have won my first case; so I won't have to pay you. It's the self-referential conundrum. j
