China wants to get in the WTO and probably will have to give up it's software thefts to do so. In the long run if this becomes a serious enough problem, computers can be designed to require a hard to replicate piece of plug in ID hardware to go with every piece of software. The fact is that most people in places like India and China can't afford US prices, so IP companies aren't losing big time yet. Drug companies recognize this and sell drugs vastly cheaper in places like Mexico, figuring that a few bucks is better than nothing.
