<<<Gore is either an outright criminal or criminally stupid to have been mixed up in the campaign finance mess with Bubba.>>>

Gore is a liar and probably broke the law. He has defended soft money, and is still seeking it. He is a political animal, of course, and now sees it to his possible advantage to craft some kind of hemi semi demi reform on campaign finance. It's laughable. The thing is, while we laugh, we may note that GWB has up until now opposed campaign finance reform on the sole ground that the Republicans would be hurt more by it than the Democrats would. This is an entirely Marxist justification, but does have the advantage of being frank. (Marxist, ie, springing from pecuniary and general self interest.)

As for the advice from you on "standards," I shall reflect on how much to weigh it.
