Yep! It's time for an EMC and a SUNW split! Sun's E-Commerce business thrives. There are many news items about it. Here's one example:
XL To Build e-Business Innovation Centers
Centers to Showcase Cutting-Edge Solutions, Including Digital Media And Broadband, Enterprise Relationship Management
NEW YORK, March 8, iXL today announced it plans to open four regional Innovation Centers, enabling clients to experience and evaluate next-generation e-business solutions, part of Sun Microsystems' iFORCE initiative.
The centers are expected to focus on iXL's core strengths in digital media and broadband, enterprise relationship management, supply chain management and e-commerce.
According to a memorandum of understanding between the companies, iXL's centers will be powered by Sun servers, software and storage, and will offer the Sun iFORCE road map, a four-step methodology to help customers execute ``dot-com' strategies. The MOU is non-binding and a final agreement must still be negotiated between the companies.
``iXL has been a pioneer in helping businesses transform themselves through the development and deployment of cutting-edge e-business technologies,' said Lorin Coles, iXL's senior vice president, alliances. ``These innovation centers will enable us to build and demonstrate for our clients next- generation, mission-critical solutions, such as rich media, broadband, interactive television and customer relationship management.'
iXL's Digital Media and Broadband Solutions group helps companies take advantage of the digital media revolution by enabling them to create, digitize, access, manage, distribute and profit from rich media. Using Internet, broadband and interactive television technologies, iXL enables its customers to gain faster time to market, increased brand awareness and new revenue opportunities.
iXL's solutions include media e-commerce and media on demand, digital media archive and production systems, digital media creation and distribution solutions, and interactive television content, applications, and infrastructure.
iXL's Enterprise Relationship Management Group builds connected enterprise strategies, database systems and high-end, high-impact custom solutions that generate customer insight.
iXL's expertise extends to partners, distributors, wholesalers, and virtually every link in the value chain where a closer connection can mean the difference between winning and losing a customer.
The Sun iFORCE road map involves four steps: defining a business strategy, building a dot-com architecture, developing an outsourcing strategy and keeping the dot-com systems running effectively.
While businesses will come to the centers for a variety of specific dot-com needs, iXL will offer a comprehensive suite of services to dot-com an organization's customer relationships, supplier and partner interactions, employee relationships, e-commerce, data, and products and services.
