There is a difference between ridicule and violence. I was ridiculed for being small of stature when I was in HS. This was a genetic condition I had no control over. Should there be a special federal law protecting short people? We have laws to punish those who transgress in violent ways. And in this country, we are all entitled to espouse an opinion as long as it does not lead directly to violence. The First Amendment protects those ideas that we abhor as well as the ones we agree with. Ignorant ideas such as those advocating gay bashing will not win in the marketplace of ideas. JLA
