I was just reading the Sunday NY Times, and so far the only reponse of any politicians is to try to use higher oil prices as a political issue (front page story).

No one dares to put in a good word for nuclear power any more, though France has successfully converted a large percentage of its energy needs to nuclear without any problems that you ever hear about. Nobody got hurt in the Three-Mile Island accident, and just because the Russians made a Chernobyl doesn't mean anyone else has to. But to argue for nuclear power in this country now is about as popular as joining the Ku Klux Klan.
