I remember reading something when SFE was doing a DSP for ICGE. The SEC (am I using enough initials? LOL) made them change the date to PRIOR TO THE ANNOUNCEMENT. I forgot the exact reason, but if the date were in the future the amount of hoops that CMGI would have to jump through would exponentially increase. What would be interesting though would be "for shareholders of 200 shares of CMGI for the period 1/24/00 through 3/6/00, or something like that. That would really tick off the daytraders :)
Anyway TTYA, GTG etc.

Scarecrow,

It is fitting of DW's philosophy to reward those shareholders who are true long term investors in CMGI to "award" them the opportunity to get in on the ALTA IPO. He knew it would be oversubscribed so why dilute the possibility of the true holders of shares by signaling to the world that the lottery for ALTA shares is open?

I know my chances have been dramatically enhanced to get shares now that the window of opportunity has passed and I was in.

FWIW,
Paulk

Scarecrow - I agree 100%. CMGI is denying its shareholders the opportunity to experience price run-ups due to increased demand for DSP qualification shares.

The current NASDAQ frenzy is happening without CMGI participation and it is not the first time I have had to sit here and watch as the world passes us by. Granted, when CMGI decides its time to move, it does so with a vengeance, but it would be nice to go with the flow for a change.

I too was lucky enough to get into the ENGA and NAVI IPOs. Now, if I had only been smart enough to keep the shares.

ALTA (if I get it) is going in the closet.
