China Says Relations with U.S. at 'Critical Juncture'

(CNSNews.com) - Relations between China and the United States are at a "critical juncture," Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan said on Friday, adding that U.S. weapons sales to Taiwan were the cause of tensions between Beijing and Taipei.

"What the United States has done on the question of Taiwan has inflated the arrogance of the separatist forces in Taiwan," he told a press conference in Beijing.

"Therefore, the United States bears unshakable responsibility for the tension in the Taiwan Strait."

Tang said Beijing had delivered a formal diplomatic protest to Washington over the past 24 hours about arms sales to Taiwan, which China's communist rulers regard as a rebel province.

"What the U.S. says and does on the question of Taiwan will have a direct bearing on the future direction of the Sino-U.S. relationship. It will also directly bear on peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and also in the Asia-Pacific region."

Consumer Price Index shows the
February average of $1.44 per gallon is just a penny
higher than the real-dollar equivalent of what drivers paid
in 1972, when gas sold nominally for 36 cents.


I'm sure that all of our independent truckers and those who are just above the poverty line will find soothing comfort in those facts.
