what you say makes a lot of sense. and thecow too. i don't use outlook myself. i think you are on a good track and giving LTK good advice.

To change the default email editor in Outlook:

Tools|Options|Mail Format tab

uncheck the box labelled "Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages"

I'm using Outlook 2000 but if I recall correctly, it's identical in Outlook 97/98.
