Sony is taking a major hit due to reports that some of its new Play Station IIs are malfunctioning. I have to say that I've had a lot of problems with Sony products, at least the ones I let the kids play with. I bought one of my kids a Mavica camera, it was great while it lasted, but it's not working after only two years. That's over $500 down the drain, and I am not likely to buy another.

I can't get a good historical quote on Softbank, but my estimate is that it's down about 50% from its high in January. People on the Softbank thread are discussing somatic reactions like the urge to throw up.

Oh, yeah, and Taiwan elections are next week. If the Taiwan electorate does what they seem to want to do, and China does what it threatens to do, the Taiwan stock exchange may be trading flat-line soon.

This is, of course, a great buying opportunity.<g>
