Scumbria, Mani, <I just got no clue as to why it doesn't run reliably at 1GHz>

The reason I suggested leakage current is
1. Grows at least linearly with temperature
2. From something on Aces Hardware weeks ago, I read that the real killer for the K6-3 was NOT that there wasn't enough redundancy in the L2 cache, but that the leakage current was too high in the L2. This causes noise problems and is the reason the voltage had to be raised to 2.4v. But that raised the temperature and the leakage current again...
3. I suspect notched gates have more of a problem with leakage. WATSONYOUTH pointed out that the CuMine's low power modes don't work anymore because of high leakage currents.

Next time WATSONYOUTH pops up, we can ask him his take on the low case temperature spec for GiggleMine.
