Lee, your starting to go for that nap pretty early. Check this out, and SHORT those Airlines. <vbg>

FAA frequently punishes airlines

In a business in which small mistakes have cost hundreds of lives, airlines have frequently made errors in maintenance, security and flight operations that violated federal safety regulations, according to a USA TODAY analysis of 14 years of FAA enforcement actions against 23 U.S. airlines. An average of eight times each workday in 1998, the FAA fined or took administrative action against those airlines for alleged safety violations. Since January 1985, the FAA has closed hundreds of enforcement cases - resulting in fines, settlement payments, letters of correction or warning notices - against each of the 10 largest airlines. Details gleaned from FAA documents show that tens of thousands of flights flew in "unairworthy condition" since 1985 because of maintenance problems. The FAA defines unairworthy as "unsafe for aviation use."
