(COMTEX) B: MicroTel's CXR S.A. Subsidiary has Introduced in Europe I B: MicroTel's CXR S.A. Subsidiary has Introduced in Europe Its New High Speed mSDSL Multirate Modem Which Maximizes Speed and Distance for Internet and LAN Interconnection RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif., Mar 13, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Introduction Into The North American Market Is Planned For The Second Calendar Quarter MicroTel International Inc. (OTC BB:MCTL) ("MicroTel") Monday announced that its Paris based CXR, S.A. subsidiary has introduced into the European market it's new FASTLINE 2000 modem under its popular CXR Anderson Jacobson brand name. Based on new state-of-the-art mSDSL (multirate symmetrical digital subscriber line) technology, the FASTLINE 2000 varies its transmission rate to provide the maximum performance available over single-pair copper wires. This technology greatly reduces the cost, complexity and time required to support the new fast T1/E1 and FT1/FE1 circuits used for Internet and LAN access, video conferencing, distance learning and video-on-demand among other applications. Commenting on the new product Mehdy Mirin, Network Product Manager for MicroTel's California based CXR Telcom Corp. stated, "Increased demand for Internet access, along with the deregulation of the global telecommunication industry, has resulted in requirements for an array of new communication services. "To deliver these new services, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Inter-Exchange Carriers (IECs) and Incumbent Local Exchange Carriers (ILECs) must achieve affordable broadband transmission over the existing copper wire infrastructure. Increasingly, these providers are looking to Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology as the best means for getting the job done." In step with this worldwide trend, CXR S.A. -- a worldwide manufacturer of baseband modems and T1/E1 access products has added the Model FASTLINE 2000 mSDSL Modem to its growing family of Network Access Products. The FASTLINE 2000 mSDSL supports synchronous, full duplex transmission over one unconditioned twisted pair (2-wires) and provides high-speed connectivity for Frame Relay, Voice, Internet Access, Wireless backbone, Intranet, Campus and ATM networks. Web Hosting/Video-on-Demand and pay-per-view movies competition to support high bandwidth Internet services is putting pressure on ISPs to make higher speed Internet access connections available at the local loop. The FASTLINE 2000 mSDSL modem (with Voice/Data module) is perfect for this application, allowing the ISP to supply a remote Point of Presence with a voice/fax/2Mbps data link, all over a single, cost-effective 2-wire leased line. FASTLINE provides various line rates from 128 Kbps to 2.3 Mbps and can transmit voice and data over a distance exceeding 5.4 miles. According to Jacques Moisset, President of CXR, S.A., "While this product can be sold to our traditional telcom customers such as Bell Atlantic, SBC, GTE and France Telecom among many others, it more importantly can be sold for the first time to the larger commercial end user market such as private corporations, banks, government agencies, campuses and many more such customers. We are planning a whole new North American distribution channel as well as new distribution channels elsewhere in Asia, including China."
