Carpe, nice call. I picked some up this morning on the dip. Also got some SCON early this morning. Still going lightly with techs. Sold many positions last week, and my port is holding up fine.
Julie

Also bought some MXTR.

Carpe....any more to report on ATCO? Been looking in on them, but haven't made a decision yet given this market volatility....my luck to move into a new issue and have the market blanket me in sorrow.

Playing with Lightpath this morning kept me from mock suicide....thanks for RMTR....it also gave my fragile ego a boost this morning.

Great alert, Carpe! Thanks on RMTR! As for ATCO, I just haven't the time to go into the specifics and dig into the nitty gritty of their technology. A directional speaker is certainly a possibility. . .as sound is amplified on bounces. . .we have seen what a parabolic reflector can do to capture long range sound. . .you know that guy holding the big round microphone on the sidelines of football games. . . that often gets taken out by the play. . .that is essentially a microphone pointed at a parabolic reflector for the capturing of distant sound through the amplification caused by reflection . . .the reverse in mics is a shotgun mic which rejects all sound entering from sides by putting "out-of-phase". . . so that only sound directed at the element gets picked up. . . A microphone is merely a speaker in reverse. . .they work on an identical principal. .so a speaker pointed at a parabolic reflector would act like an amphitheatre and reflect sound out in all directions. . .or a speaker set-up like a shotgun mic, where out-of-phase ambient sound is uh, I guess amplified, which would further disguise the message to any off-axis parties, while a fairly clear message could be heard by a target audience directly on-axis to the sound shotgun. . . .

Yeah. . that sounds totally logical to me.

So the concept of throwing sound to a soldier within eyesight, without breaking radio silence, is absolutely possible. . .and a bit intriguing. . .albeit hardly high-tech. . .I would think there would be patents on such devices going back to the 40's and 50's. . . as it is a completely mechanical concept.

However, it could be that in order to make the theory work, it has taken computers, advanced logorithms [sp?] and even digital electronics. . . I don't know. . .again. . .there is little detail in the press release. But it is possible and could lead to the products listed.

However. . . wasn't this company involved in something once before that made their stock spike? . . .Or do I have them mixed up with another? Before considering any position in the stock, I would be sure to first look into what other press releases they have had about dramatic products that are long from seeing actual product and revenues.

Hope that helps,
