Completely agreed. But, at the same time,

1) it put a huge downward pressure on food prices, and thus on inflation, and

2) the providers of enahnced machinery, fertilizers and seeds made out like bandits.

By extension, my hypothesis is that the old economy is becoming more efficient and productive, so CPI will continue to be low and the stocks to invest will be the new economy ones. Win-win!
