Michael, Let's say I want to start Web site and make good money on it as well. To do so, I have to adopt the TV model, as nothing else seems to work. That is, I am funded by ads. I have to throw in online purchases as well, perhaps, from participating merchants. Probably I also want to maintain a database of browsers, to target ads more effectively (boy do I hate that ... but so is life). Presumably, I will have millions of visitors (otherwise what's the point!?). In that case, I probably want my site to be fast, fast and for the third time fast. And this on top of the fact that the advertisers will want streaming media and no less. Add all this up and what do you get? I need a big box to succeed. A TV station with a weak broadcast signal is doomed to fail. -BGR.
