ted, I think we were all blinded by the numbers...millions of boxes...and no-one looked at the bottom line....except AMD. Who is dissing the box? we have not seen it yet. All I have seen is some descriptions of the potential risks and some comments about Sony = no pushover.
With Intel making them at MSFT expense with all development costs prepaid = no risk for Intel at all.It will be fully commoditised, so the ASP will not boost Intels ASP at all, justhe numbers, and it may well pull the ASP down. Well, Intel has loads of capacity...let them use it on low margin stuuf. AMD has a lot less free capacity and is wise to keep low ASP products to a minumum if the run the risk of displacing higher margin items.
