I emailed Datek about the marginable status of my MRVC and this is the response I got. "Canned" The Federal Reserve Board determines which securities are marginable and non-marginable. In addition, individual broker-dealers can establish more stringent criteria for offering margin on securities. Datek Online takes a conservative approach when determining a security's marginability. A security's marginability status can change if conditions warrant.
