Sunny, I am no wireless expert, so pardon the lack of technical backup on my opinion regarding CDMA vs GSM.

As I understand Irwin Jacob's reasons for believing that CDMA will prevail in Europe:
1) the cost of implementing and operating a CDMA network to support data and voice is much less that the cost of expanding the GSM network to meet growing demand.

2) The sooner they begin that implementation, the more profitable the operators will become as they avoid spending GSM infrastructure dollars which result in less capacity per euro spent compared to CDMA.

3) High demand for data will speed up the need to implement CDMA in Europe as the limits of GSM become more apparent.

I hope more knowledgable types will jump in here and help me with this conclusion.
