J.D., Rumor control! Dell denies interest in Maxdata

The German subsidiary of U.S.-based Dell Computer Corp on Tuesday denied it wants to acquire a stake in German rival Maxdata AG.

``There is nothing going on, there are no talks,' a spokesman for Dell Computer Corp GmbH told Reuters.

The investor newsletter Mainvestor reported on Monday that Dell was interested in acquiring a 47.7 percent stake in Neuer
Markt-listed Maxdata from Microcomputer-Fertigung GmbH.

Maxdata Chief Financial Officer Armin Buttlar said then he had not heard of Dell's intent to buy a stake in his company.
