Joan, there's a re-cycling plant in Germany as well, which has been the focus of a lot of protests by the environmentalists over the years. i think it's a big mistake to cut back on scientific enquiry into nuclear power...in the long run, this could really solve the earth's energy problems. there's a guy on LW who's fantasizing about cold fusion a lot. he says they're really working on a reproducible process. however, the true state of affairs is unknown. there's a lot of speculation going on, but no real evidence of progress as of yet.
