It will cause dilution. Whether it is good or bad depends on what they get for the stock, and whether they can generate enough more income from the money they get that the earnings per diluted share are higher than the earnings per undiluted share would have been.

OTOH, if the ability to raise this capital means they survive rather than going under, it's nothing but good!

Basically, you decide whether you trust management to do the best thing for the shareholders. I'm willing to trust for the time being.
