Whether knowingly or not...you have paraphrased what T. Jefferson wrote many years ago. I agree completely with both of you. :)

I too shudder at the reification of society, and the subsequent attribution of "rights" to this (and other) conceptual constructs. The existence of society is conceptual and not organismic...although I have heard ant farmers claim otherwise...
