Well, it's three strikes against Sandisk and I'm officially out of the game. IMO, it's just a matter of time before another memory technology takes over the flash market and where will that leave SNDK??? SNDK is presently valued based on 5 year projected growth which does not include new non-volatile solid-state memory technology competition. I've already brought possible competitors to the attention of this thread and I will now move on to other investments.

P.S. I don't short stocks, in case you're wondering... SNDK may keep rising, but it is definitely a much riskier investment than it was when I first invested in it at $7.00. At that time, flash was the only feasible non-volatile solid-state memory technology and simply that is no longer the case. Best wishes to all especially Aus, but it might be time to put down the pom-pom's.

rll,

I agree that FRAM looks formidable : access speeds of DRAM and non-volatile like flash.

But fujitsu and rmtr are only agreeing to make 4Mbit parts now. How likely is it to work and be cost effective in 96MB or 256MB packages? It will probably take a couple of years (at least) before it becomes a serious threat to the big flashram storage that is being sold today. Per MB, it will probably be expensive too for a while.

It's more likely to show up as the system ram of choice of PALM-like PDAs first to save power consumption --- interesting that all storage on PDAs are going to be non-volatile.
