Company press release: "XIOtech Announces Certified SAN Architects Program:" Tuesday March 14, 8:05 am Eastern Time Company Press Release SOURCE: XIOtech Corporation XIOtech Announces Certified SAN Architects Program Novell Strengthens High-Availability Initiative as Novell Consultants Become First to Receive Certification EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., March 14 /PRNewswire/ -- XIOtech©, a virtual storage pioneer and manufacturer of the architected Storage Area Network (SAN) MAGNITUDE(TM), today announced a new training initiative for its partners called the XIOtech Certified SAN Architects (CSA) program. The XIOtech CSA certification combines hands-on training with classroom instruction on the XIOtech MAGNITUDE and related SAN components such as Fibre Channel switches, hubs and host adapter boards. The program also extends XIOtech's partner product knowledge by allowing partners to cross-train XIOtech system engineers. The XIOtech CSA program enables each company's technical and support personnel to have a broader understanding of all the components that go into their mutual customers' SAN environments, thus enabling better customer support. Novell is the first partner to take advantage of the XIOtech CSA program. Recently XIOtech trained and certified 16 Novell High-Availability Consultants on MAGNITUDE software and hardware. In addition, XIOtech systems engineers received cross-training and gained additional hands-on instruction on NetWare© Cluster Services(TM) (NWCS), Novell's Net services software designed to maximize network uptime. ``The simplicity of deploying XIOtech's SAN technology removes many of the hurdles customers encounter when looking for a high-availability solution. For that reason, the MAGNITUDE was one of the key platforms in the development of NetWare Cluster Services,' said Alex Salehi, vice president of Novell Worldwide Consulting. ``As XIOtech Certified SAN Architects, with deeper understanding of the MAGNITUDE and supporting SAN components, Novell Consulting can help our mutual customers implement their high-availability solutions faster.' XIOtech has deployed 20 high-availability MAGNITUDE SAN configurations in Novell offices across North America and Europe to demonstrate the power of NWCS and Novell's other key software in a SAN environment. The MAGNITUDE's virtualized storage architecture makes it possible for servers to easily fail over to shared online data volumes, making it a perfect platform for server clustering. ``The flexibility and adaptability of the MAGNITUDE made it the best choice for us when we decided to implement server clustering,' said Tony Armendariz, manager of IS for the law firm of Clark, Thomas, and Winters in Austin, Texas. ``Our attorneys work around the clock, so our network must be up 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week. In order to meet this criteria and still be able to do online maintenance on our network, we decided to implement server clustering. The combination of the XIOtech MAGNITUDE SAN and NWCS delivers the uptime, fault tolerance and manageability we need in our network.' ``Our relationship with Novell has been a strategic advantage for us in key accounts across the world,' said Richard Blaschke, executive vice president of marketing for XIOtech. ``Our support with early Novell clustering initiatives and now NWCS has brought us a depth of understanding that directly benefits customers interested in deploying high-availability systems. The cross-training and certification effort that is underway with our CSA program is one more step in our continuously developing relationship with Novell and other valued strategic partners.' According to Dennis Johnson, executive vice president of sales for XIOtech, ``We view this program as an opportunity to extend our technical systems engineering expertise beyond our own key hardware and software components for the SAN. For example, our Novell customer base can now be assured of an even closer integration of the high-availability SAN solutions and support offered by both Novell and XIOtech.' XIOtech partners who are interested in increasing their knowledge of SAN and XIOtech MAGNITUDE features and functionality are encouraged to become XIOtech Certified SAN Architects. The two-day course provides partners with an in-depth understanding of designing SAN solutions with the most current industry features, such as clustering, LAN-free backup and virtualization through the use of the XIOtech MAGNITUDE.
