That is irrelevant since not all features are those one has the option to pay or not to pay for. Applying hedonic pricing to CPI which is used to index payments makes the CPI that much less useful.

Peer reviewed academic research is not all uniformly good quality. It depends on the "peers" and the journal of publication. As you may know there are a huge number of academic journals and lots of junk and sometimes errorneous stuff gets published due to poor reviewer quality and also the "publish or perish" syndrome.

Therefore before accepting all peer reviewed results as gospel try to check on the calibre of the source.
