Satnam to tie up with Sify to sell rice on Net indiaconnect.com 14-03-2000 18:34:14 Grain exporter Satnam Overseas Ltd is planning to tie up with Internet firm Satyam Infoway Ltd to sell rice over the Internet. "We are planning to tie-up with Satyam Infoway so that we can sell our rice through the Internet," Satnam's Joint Managing director Satnam Arora told Reuters. "Talks with Satyam Infoway are going on." Satnam Overseas, makers of Kohinoor basmati rice, is one of India's leading grain exporters. A unit of Satyam Computer Services Ltd, Satyam Infoway is one of the country's leading private Internet service provider and owns several portals. Arora said the e-commerce venture would initially sell rice in the domestic market and then look at the possibility of selling the grain in the international market. "After looking at the success of the venture in the domestic market, we will examine its prospects in global trade," he said. Source: Reuters
