It jeopardizes the view that North American companies like Cisco and Lucent can maintain their hegemony in internet infrastructure as we move towards wireless net access.

Sometimes I'm a little slow on the uptake, if you hadn't noticed, so maybe I misunderstand, but...

I see the wireless "infrastructure" as distinct from the internet/telephony infrastructure. In the wireless world I think of the MSC/HLR/etc. components as the infrastructure (or the SGSN/GGSN/etc. in the wireless data world). But all these live somewhat at the edge of the "core" telephony/internet infrastructure. I see Nokia as a threat to Lucent and Nortel in these areas (does Cisco have a complete wireless story yet?), but in the optical/ATM/layer 3 IP switching market I think Lucent, Nortel and Cisco still dominate. Perhaps I don't know as much about Nokia as a good investor should? And I'm sure I don't have a good view of the European telephony/internet infrastructure.
