As one "Brinkerbot" to another,

by my calculations, that is a drop of over 6% for today(intaday highs and lows that is) in the NASDAQ

** Margin Debt **

I am glad to see all the Naz high-rollers have been increasing their margin debt of late. Numbers just out show the following in billions with the percentage figures showing sequential growth:

September: 179,316
October: 182,272 (1.65%)
November: 206,280 (13.17%)
December: 228,530 (10.79%)
January: 243,490 (6.59%)
February: 265,210 (8.92%)

From September through February, margin debt increased 48%!!! And after a rest in January, margin debt increased sequentially at a higher rate. Come on folks, jump on board with the smart money and let's push it higher!!! All aboard !!!

Anyone heard what Batman has said about margin lending as a risk to the market? Not me.

Biotechs sicken Nasdaq (NAZ off 4%, QQQ off >5%):

The Nasdaq composite index plunged for the second straight
session Tuesday and posted its second-worst point loss on record, hurt by biotechnology stocks that crumbled on President Clinton's proposal to make gene mapping data public.

QQQ (NAZ 100) off now 3 days in a row (start of a trend?):

14 March close at 211.5 (about)

13 March close at 223

10 March close at 229

09 March close at 230

However, Oracle beats number tonight - after the bell - that could give the techs a bump up in the AM?

P.S.- Good thing I bailed on those Biotech Holders (BBH) yesterday! Should have bailed a couple of days ago <G>
