quick follow up, jcc...

fwiw & fyi, i went ahead just now and made the 'memory retrieval' command adjustments to my config.sys and autoexec.bat files that langa outlined in the linked article. i recorded the change in 'largest executable program size'... an increase of just a little over 1% of low dos memory. i'm going to put the puter through its normal paces and report any differences i detect. so far i see no diff with free resources.

i recall vaguely that back whenever it was some of us here were discussing all this, that rich weighed in with some remarks along the lines of the langa suggestions being somewhat worthless (definitely paraphrasing there). but i don't want to lose the point that, if memory serves me (and isn't that what we're really striving for here?), a very knowledgeable member of the thread was not too impressed. <g3>

i did, of course, record all settings in the two files prior to making changes.

:)

Re: Resource Usage

So far it sounds like Hutch's suggestion is having a positive effect.

Maybe I'll email Al Fasoldt with the info and see what kind of response he gives? He's pretty good at answering his email.

Thanks for the info.
