US DVD player sales up, 218.3% in the latest week.........

Vital Statistics - 3/15/00

DVD player sales are slightly down from last week. According to CEA, for the week ending March 3, 2000, DVD player unit sales to dealers were 61,248 for the week and month, a 218.3 percent increase over March 1999 sales. Projection television sales have increased tremendously over the past week, jumping to 22,523 sold, a 162.3 percent increase.

Year-to-date, DVD player sales are 832,314, a 227.5 percent increase over 1999 sales and projection television sales are 219,456, a 33.9 percent increase over 1999.

According to VideoScan First Alert Reporting Retailers for the week of for the week ending march 5, 2000, DVD title sales were 692,000 yielding a year-to-date sales total of 6,693,000.
