David R-

I use BRK as a counterweight to the tech in my portfolio (I am a software guy also). Even given its rough year this year, I cannot imagine a better place to put non-tech funds.

I sleep soundly owning BRK and agree with you that the techs have gone to unsustainable heights as a group. This is a great time to balance things out--techs are high, BRK is cheap. In a few years the opposite may be true again.

I would buy BRKB instead of BRKA so that further balancing can be done incrementally instead of in one huge chunk. For whatever reason, BRKB often is cheaper than 1/30 BRKA, which it should match. But, yeah, 44k can be hard to find lying around, so go the BRKB route and you can do it in bites. (trade your bytes for bites, eh?).

Good investing,
Wright

You could always buy the B shares instead, trading around 1455. Good luck.

Shorting QQQ is one strategy. I agree that I wouldn't do it yet. I think NAS indices will move sideways for a while now - based on my TA. They are likely to recover a little by the end of the month first though and then possibly go sideways for the rest of the year. And buy BRK/B no reason to buy BRK/A.

David R, You get my vote for "Best Advice and Timing". BRK.A is up over 50%, Nasdaq down more than 50% and many dot coms lost 90 to 98% since March 14, 2000. I'm keeping my eye on you. : )
