biotechs and govt officials have a responsibility to clear up to investors the nature of protected intellectual property

let's hope they do so
at one point last week, biotech mktcap might have exceeded Old Economy pharmaceutical mktcap

last week, questions were being raised as to whether New Economy biotechs would indeed begin to make a move to acquire some Old Econ firms with reduced stock value

I personally hope a practical medium can be achieved that protects the hard work, brilliant research, and ingenuity of biotech corporations

in 1995 I attempted to be hired by Genzyme, but failed
tried with Genetics Institute, and made even less progress
it would have been like working on a frontier

our society can be changed permanently, somewhat for the worse, but very much for the better, by straightening out the profit potential and public rights to benefits, from all this amazing work

just think, all of it is combinations of:
A adenosine
C cytosine
T thiamine
G guanine

I would like to see some horrible diseases wiped out
the day I was born, my mother's sister died of leukemia
before I was born, my mother's father died of diabetes
so I never met either of them
that Irish genetic pool needed some balancing
thank the Lord for Daddy's strong Iowa WASPy genetic strain
and with a pinch of Germanic spice

good to see you, Poet... but I will never reform

Poet, Thank you for that post. At first I was puzzled as to why the Prez made such a public spectacle about something he seems to have little grasp of. Venter's letter to the NIH makes this clear now.

"We believe that speed is essential for completing the genome. Its
completion is the beginning of a new era in medicine that many lives
depend on. The research that follows is far more important than
squabbles over credit for its completion.

Gore wanted to be father of the internet and Clinton, via the NIH, the mother of the human genome. I think he sees a spotlight/legacy oppurtunity fading. Shame huh?

Poet,

Thanks for posting the Celera response.
They will weather this storm and soon be back where they were.
Yesterday was a good opportunity to get buy more shares or perhaps buy calls...
Did you get any?

I'm glad you are back. The Porch ain't the same without ya...
I missed you. We all did.
