I don't think it is necessary to 'defeat Linux' when a simple embrace will do. There is no reason why Wind cannot develop Tools for Embedded Linux.

I dont understand the Linux threat.

I thought that embedded systems just had TCP/IP interface and could interface to the Internet directly.

Why would anyone want a huge OS like Linux or Windows to be imbedded rather than an agent that can be accessed by any OS?

I read the article "Linux Beat: Industry Leaders Launch Embedded Linux Consortium". it didnt help much.

Maybe I am missing something.
