Microsoft unveils new facility for rapid deployment of network systems

Story Filed: Wednesday, March 15, 2000 6:00 AM EST

MAR 15, 2000, M2 Communications - Microsoft Corp has unveiled a new and expanded
Microsoft Partner Solutions Center at its headquarters in Redmond, Washington.

At the centre, Microsoft and its partners provide network service providers with design,
development, testing and integration resources for the creation of end-to-end network systems.

The centre also aims to help network service providers take advantage of new e-business
opportunities, such as application hosting, broadband and TV services and voice-over Internet
protocols.

Microsoft's key partners at the facility include Compaq Computer, Dell Computer,
Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Lucent Technologies and Nortel Networks.

David. I noticed that also. Faber seemed intent on disparaging the upgrade, and I was surprised that Kernan did not jump to Compaq's defense as he usually does. As a matter of fact, Faber even hinted at the fact that investors might not look past the first quarter revenue miss (if indeed that happens) and might want to wait to buy the stock lower. Both seemed to agree at the end that the upgrade probably wouldn't be worth much. Just also noticed that Maria made sure to mention the possibility of a first quarter miss when discussing the upgrade, then mentioned that the release of W2K should be good for Compaq and Dell. So even good news for Compaq is slapped around, then they find a way to work a good blurb in for Dell. Talk about a pack of followers. That's why right now I have CNBC on with the sound muted (I only turn up the sound if I see a company I'm interested in flashed on the screen) and listen to Stern on the radio. By 10, I usually switch off CNBC altogether.

CPQ traded over 1/2 of daily average volume in the first hour today. The average daily volume has grown over 25% lately due to a number of more then twice average volume days we have had lately. Not too long ago this volume would have represented one days volume. At this point, I think it is safe to say we are becoming a momentum stock play.
