Anyone -- WHAT IS GOING ON?

I thought it was wonderful when I picked up additional shares at 190 this morning, - - - but 170 now, and as low as 163??

A worried Ivernia

PS Downsouth, where are you? I need some hand holding!

Mornin' Lynn,

I'm still here in the back of the wagon, hangin tight to the few coins of NTAP in my tin cup. Did we miss the trail for a few moments, or what?

it sounds to me as if you are a momentum player rather than an investor who takes a position in a
stock intending to hold it for the long term

Please don't get a wrinkle in your corset about who/what I am. I am mostly a lurqer...I am former 100% QCOMmer. Since January, have spread about 25% into JDSU, CREE, ELON, LPTHA, LHSP, and a toedip into NTAP. I think I first got interested in it from the G&K board from you or Unc Frank.

I bought only 50 shares to track it for awhile before making a decision one way or the other. This morning sure wiped out the sell stops all the way down. Glad I learned from many days reading SI (before tax season glued me to my desk) not to set stops. I am sure that many who are without the wisdom available from you and many of the other veteran posters are sad at this moment.

Regarding Roth conversions, ask your tax person about the number of times per year you can move assets from your traditional IRA to your Roth. The rules are not real clear about that. It makes sense to do that when prices are down as you say.

Try to keep the NTAP horses on the upward path today. Those side roads are rough on all us old folks in the back of the wagon. Esmerelda got bounced out a ways back at the 160 hairpin and is running hard to catch up agin. Now that we've slowed back down from 200 to 185, she might catch us.

Lynn, have a good day...jj

From Lynn's ML post:

I agree that round numbers can be the issue. However, Dan &
Company have been pretty good about sticking to the standard
party line of: "We try to grow 100%, but we expect over the
long term to gravitate towards the growth rate of the NAS
market in general". He apparently got into specifics this
time and ended up with this mess.

CEO's should just parrot the party line and not freelance.

> We are currently estimating revenue of $570 mill
> in FY00 (4qe $171 mill). We spoke with company and it
> confirmed it is not changing its outlook for revenue.
> We are estimating revenue of $922 mill in FY01 and we
> believe the CEO?s comments could indicate the company
> is bullish for next year?s outlook

This is still screwed up. He says $570M for FY00 with 4Q of
$171M but they have already booked $379M so $570 - $379 is
$191M not $171M!

I'll assume $570M is correct, $191M is the target for Q4
which is 112% increase in revenue Q4 FY99 to Q4 FY00.

This makes sense given the bullish back-to-back stock
splits. Maybe I'll mail Merrill's Steve M. a TI BA-35
solar calculator to help with his math. :)
