ON24 Inc. Selects Network Appliance to Help Meet Demand for Streaming Personalized Financial News
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 15, 2000--Network Appliance (NASDAQ: NTAP - news), a leading provider of network-attached data access and management solutions, today announced ON24 Inc., the financial personalcast(SM) network for the online investor, has chosen Network Appliance as its strategic provider of data storage solutions. ON24 selected Network Appliance because NetApp© F700 series filers meet the demanding performance requirements, rapid scalability and streaming video and audio content requirements of ON24 customers.
ON24 has deployed two NetApp F740 filers, Network Appliance's midrange file server that scales up to 900GB of storage capacity. One filer resides in the company's California office, the other in the New York office. Ten servers -- including Windows NT©-based and Linux-based servers --currently access data on the filer in California and another ten access the filer in New York, both via virtual LAN environments at each location.
The Windows NT and Linux servers access a wide range of data stored on the filers, including streaming content viewed using Microsoft© Windows Media(TM) and RealNetworks© RealSystem(TM) G2. ON24 servers also access XML documents for subscribers and affiliates to post on their portal sites, and HTTP and HTML pages accessed directly by subscribers through the ON24 site.
``NetApp filers give us the scalability, performance and reliability we need to rapidly deliver streaming video and audio to our users,' said Sharat Sharan, president and CEO, ON24 Inc. ``Investors depend on us for complete and instantaneous financial information. The filers help ensure we can store and serve that information in a timely way so ON24 users can make critical investment decisions. '
``Network Appliance is an ideal solution for companies like ON24 that stream multimedia financial content to sophisticated customers over the Web,' said Larry Kubo, vice president of marketing, Network Appliance, Inc. ``We look forward to continuing to deliver the storage technology they need to keep pace with the data management demands in the financial 'personalcast`` market they're pioneering.'
ON24 Inc. is a participant in Network Appliance's ``Powered by Network Appliance' program, a branding initiative designed to foster business development and enhance the exposure of Internet companies with e-business driven strategies.
