Mike,

Regarding PD, I guess that 5 year chart I looked at didn't go back far enough. The recent volatility saw prices rise from $50 to $70, only to drop to $45. I suppose I should become accustomed to moves like that with the way the market trades anymore.

I did note their losses, which combined with their merger has kept me out of the stock thus far. Large mergers can go badly. Perhaps I'll find another play on copper, or limit myself to a call option on PD. I like the way options limit my losses and force me to re-evaluate my thinking periodically.

Regarding OS and the Unions- I don't think I'm anti union. Been reading Demming- who suggests that Management and Worker Bees will prosper best in an environment of cooperation.

In this particular case, I realize I'm not in possession of all the facts, yet I'm having trouble reconciling two disparate views.

First, you have a company that made the workers equity holders and provided generous bonuses in the form of stock here in Oregon, prior to the Rocky Mountain Steel purchase

Then you have a massive PR campaign sponsored by the union over the past year spreading Fear Uncertainty and Doubt about the labor practices and product quality, directly attacking the companies revenue stream.

I believe this is an attempt to set an example for other companies, unfortunately at the expense of the ex RSM workers who now find themselves without income.

I believe unions have their place in balancing the power between the workers and management, but in an ideal situation the workers and management don't require unions to maintain a prosperous relationship.
