John, re Romanian girl, that is quite an accomplishment. I heard some numbers on what Intel spends on scholarships, etc. for kids. Huge.

Here's another article about Giga. Turns out their chips are used in SONET (Synchronous Optical Network) gear. This is THE hottest network backbone technology right now, which is trying its best to get the bandwidth way up there to handle all the data, voice and video over IP which is in demand, or projected. The actual products Giga type chips would be used in, manufactured by a Cisco or a Nortel, are switches, multiplexes and repeaters.

The article also says Giga is a leading supplier of OC-48 (2.5 gigabits-per-second) and OC-192 (10 gigabits-per-second) products.

These are the fastest SONET speeds I know about. On the surface, looks like a great buy for Intel.
