If this were true, I too would be worried. However, the available evidence suggests he is a smart guy with a reasoned thought process.

As for his accomplishments in life, the silver-spoon factor he shares with Gore makes such an assessment difficult.

That is true. But when you consider other silver spooned types (the Kennedy offspring, the Reagans, Nixons, Fords, Johnsons, Eisenhauers, offspring of tycoons, etc.) how many have accomplished as much as W? Heck, one of the Kennedy clan is even on trial for murder. I just don't think it is fair to say his accomplishments are worthless because of who his father is.

As for your claim for him of compassion, the only person whose record of execution in death penalty cases rivals W's in lack of compassion is that of Bill Clinton.

W's compassion is reserved for victims and society at large. That's true compassion, not the phony sort which encourages crime.
