Lots of new millionaires at Nortel.

Nortel's John Craig gains $19.05 million US with stock options, Updated: Wed, Mar 15 03:57 PM EST

TORONTO (CP) - Insider trading - the fully disclosed, legal kind - has boosted the millionaire clubs at two of Canada's most prominent technology companies, Nortel Networks and its biggest shareholder BCE Inc.

John Craig, a senior officer at Nortel, made $19.05 million US per cent of their value and then selling them at the market rate.

Craig tops the list of eight big winners at Nortel who exercised stock options in January and February, according to filings with the Ontario Securities Commission.

Over at BCE, parent of Bell Canada and owner of almost 40 per cent of Nortel, senior officer Peter Nicholson reported a capital gain of at least $5.34 million from an option
on almost 44,000 shares.

Three other insiders at BCE made more than $1 million on stock option plays.

The capital gainers at Nortel, behind Craig: senior officer Deborah Noble, at least $2.89 million; senior officer Frank Dunn, $2.39 million; Michael Unger, $2.25 million;
Wayne Fothergill, at least $1.82 million; Ralph Russo, at least $1.3 million; Lyn Edinger, at least $1.19 million US; Nigel Rees, at least $1.16 million.

Behind Nicholson at BCE: senior officer William Anderson, at least $3.8 million; senior officer Barry Pickford, at least $1.1 million; Andre Courtois, director of an affiliate, at least $1 million.
