all this is in the stocks Kelvin. The banks are selling at depression prices, pe's of 5 to 10, good yields, charts completely oversold. same with airlines, price of oil factored in, oil likely to decline some in short term rather than rise, sector hugely oversold. airlines operating with good fill rates, can't manage to raise prices. think minimum reflex rally, possible sustained 20-30% move. not convinced of real turn yet. but with the no earnings highly overpriced nets techs and bios coming back to earth, money has to go somewhere and think that some old economy stocks are going to be lot easier way to make money.
what you said is true, greenie and oil, but market looks ahead, not back. beside, downside on these stocks just isn't much. logic says avoid banks and airlines, but at some point they are very attractive, and you have to be somewhat of a contrarian. if you do as everyone else, then you get run over by the herd. larry
