From the CMGI DSP FAQ page:

8. Why can I only open an individual cash account for the CMGI Directed Share Program for AltaVista?

While Wit Capital would like to accommodate your interest in opening other types of accounts, due to time constraints, in order to participate in the CMGI Directed Share Program for AltaVista, IF YOU DO NOT ALREADY HAVE AN ACTIVE ACCOUNT WITH WIT CAPITAL YOU MUST open an individual cash account at Wit Capital. YOU CAN, HOWEVER, USE ANY EXISTING ACCOUNT at Wit Capital to participate in the Program. Keep in mind that IPOs must be purchased with cash and cannot be purchased on margin. Please remember that whether you have an existing Wit Capital account, or you are opening a new account with Wit Capital, you must register your account at affinity.witcapital.com in order to be recognized as a participant in the Program.

regards,
Mark

Are the letters being sent out directly from CMGI or through the brokerage where the shares are?
My shares are in an account at Pru. Does that mean that Pru will forward the letter to me, just as they do with annual reports, proxy forms, etc?

Thanks.
