some places in europe limit you to no more than 2kw at a time....sequencing appliances is the only way you can have a modern household.

I lived/survived in england for 6 months, "starting summer", a couple years ago. needed heating in the house all hours.
the house i lived in had the "not so unique there" concept of "night heaters" : collect/accumulate heat during the night (when electricity rates are low), dissipate collected heat during the day (i think of it as a thermal capacitor).

nothing modern at all, about the scenario described above. the natives said to me "its been that way since the war..."
