Crazyman - RE: "M'soft slip on box chip"

Thanks for posting that article. It again proves the deal did go down to the wire. This AMD-Intel rivalry has enough stories to earn its own book written about them!

crazyoldfart - Re: "What Mr Cray did not know was that Intel had swooped with an 11th-hour proposal, snatching the deal away from AMD. He confirmed yesterday that Microsoft had signed with Intel "at the last minute". "The last we heard was AMD. It was down to the wire."
The details of the proposals from AMD and Intel are not known, but a Microsoft Australia spokesperson said yesterday the deal was signed "not long before Bill announced it". During a long presentation and demonstration at the Game Developers Conference in San Jose, Mr Gates mentioned Intel only once, saying it would create a custom chip running at 600 megahertz."

Sounds like Intel was announcewd the WINNER - Fair and Square - BEFORE AMD was announced the Winner.

Are you feeling really good now, crazyoldfart ?

Paul

M'soft slip on box chip
By DAVID HIGGINS and KATRINA NICHOLAS

Microsoft Australia has been forced into an embarrassing about-face after naming the wrong supplier of computer chips for its forthcoming TV-game machine, the X-Box.

Crazyoldman,

Of course they screwed it up.....the Australians are not nearly as slimy as their American brethren!
