Bad news?

From MacOS rumors:

Optimistic until very recently, Apple sources now report that Firewire will likely remain at 400Mbps in the UMA-2 based line of Macs, set to begin shipping in the late third quarter. Trouble finding a suitable controller vendor combined with timing and cost issues reportedly forced the decision earlier this month.

USB-2 is coming pretty quickly at 400Mbs.

Anyone savvy about this area? Is firewire @ 400Mbs the same speed as USB-2 @ 400Mbs?

Also note on same page a rumor that Apple is talking with Wintel vendors about...OS X on x86.
