Harry, one advantage of medium-term investing is that by default you are admitting that you're not trying to pick the absolute top or bottom. That factor alone would force short-term traders to over-trade(especially in this volatile market) and sometimes miss grand opportunities....not to mention the stress that they have to go thru every day!

I don't have to tell you. You already know. I am the one who is just finding out!

Clint

Tech stocks (particularly the Internets) have a history of regurgitating gains going into the summer months. A look back over the past three years shows that tech investors have been burned during the hot months. A good portion of the decline can be attributed to the drying up of money flows relative to the first-half of the year. Anticipation of a slowdown by market professionals also
contributes to making the Summer Doldrums a self-fulfilling event....
For investors searching for a Dummies Guide to Beating The Market, we have this advice: Look for bargains in July/August. Our focus would be on technology companies (e-tailers don't count) which have come public within the past 6-9 months and have fallen below their IPO prices. For the more conservative growth-investor, you should still be able to count on Yahoo!, DoubleClick, Cisco, Inktomi to make
new highs into the end of the year
