Forgive my stupidity, as I am not an engineer, but isn't the future of chips multiple cores on a chip such as Power4, which IBM announced yesterday. On paper it seems to make the Itanic obsolete; wouldn't sledgehammer have the same effect on Willy; much as Cray was done in by multiple chip computers.
