I don't think the Nasdaq will sell off today. There appears to be too much strength followed the massive declines giving us an almost 10% correction. The Nasdaq bounces from a correction.

I think I know why there has been a narrowing of the difference between ETEK and JDSU: Forced margin selling. Notice how ETEK dropped in the last hour yesterday vs. JDSU. The people who are wiling to take on more risk chose to buy ETEK over JDSU. They are also more likely to risk using margin.

I also agree with t2. This Corning thing has to be good for the whole sector today.

I just wouldn't read too much into the ETEK/JDSU spread in the middle of a market correction. Too many people are buying, selling, rebalancing, & covering right now. Wait a week before drawing conclusions.

My guess is that the spread will tighten again.
