You still have not convinced, as the bulk of programing is done for Direct x and OpenGL... what does it matter if T&L is hardware instead of software, the API can still used 3DNOW.

The graphics hardware implements the Direct X or OpenGL API directly in hardware, and does not use the CPU SIMD instructions.

Also if the video card is taking on more of the CPU's duties what will be the need for SSE or 3DNow if the Video card is doing all the calcs.

The graphics card generates the image from a description provided by the CPU. The burden of calculation is moving to the CPU for doing physics calculations to generate the frame description. This is independent of the graphics interface.
